Carolina Crossroads

 

Carolina Crossroads bluegrass band was formed in 2005 as a music ministry. The band sings traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel music. The band, based in Florence, SC, has performed throughout the Pee Dee area in numerous events from fund raisers, family reunions, birthday parties, to church events and socials. Carolina Crossroads band is the “House Band” for Cain's Bar-B-Q Restaurant, leading the music jam every Friday night for the last 2 years. Some of their recent performances include: Senior Life Expo at the Florence Civic Center, Lynches River Park at the Southeastern Bluegrass Association's monthly concert, First Presbyterian Church Fall Festival, Leatherman Senior Center, Greenwood Baptist Church Sportsman Banquet, Florence Bible Chapel Celebration, Northgate Baptist Senior Luncheon, Hartsville “Friends of the Guard” Fund Raiser, Grace Baptist Church Senior Luncheon, Fork Presbyterian Church Social, Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Gospel Sing, Mizpah Sunday School Party, “Praise in the Park” Celebration, Quinby Baptist Church Pig-Pickin’, East Side Church 4th of July Celebration, Elim Bible Church Morning Worship, and Quinby Methodist Church Dinner.


Ernie McCormick

 

Playing rhythm guitar and singing lead is Ernie McCormick. Ernie, was born in Florence, SC and sang Southern Gospel music for many years before joining the bluegrass band. He is an active church member and sings in the choir. He resides on his family farm just outside of Florence.


Jerel Barnes

 

Playing banjo and singing low harmony is Jerel Barnes. He began playing guitar at age 14 and the banjo during the year 2000. Jerel has his own unique style and sound. He was born in Lexington, NC, and now makes his home in the Mars Bluff area of Florence, SC.


Charlie Calder

 

Playing mandolin and singing high harmony is Charlie Calder. Charlie, born in the Elim area of Florence, SC, began playing guitar at the age of 12 and the mandolin in the earlier 90’s. Charlie grew up and cut his teeth on bluegrass music. He lives with his family in the Oakdale area of Florence, SC.
